Alipay contains several payment routes, and their names matter. A purchase funded by a linked card, a payment from balance, a bank-card transfer and a balance withdrawal are not interchangeable. This domestic-user guide explains how to identify the operation and read the applicable fee before authorising it.
Identify the product on the screen
The Alipay service centre separates account assets, payment methods, withdrawals and other services. Start with the label attached to your intended operation. A displayed balance, a linked bank card and a separately offered credit or investment service create different relationships. Do not select a product merely because its amount appears beside the same payment button. Check the chosen funding source, recipient and confirmation wording. If a service requires a separate agreement, read that agreement before enabling it.
The published personal withdrawal rule
The official withdrawal-fee help article states that personal verified accounts under the same identity share a basic RMB 20,000 free quota covering specified bank-card transfers and balance withdrawals. Above the remaining quota, the published rate is 0.1% of the excess amount, with a minimum RMB 0.1 per transaction. These figures were checked on 23 October 2026. They are not a universal purchase fee, a monthly allowance, or an overseas-card fee. Check the account’s remaining allowance and final displayed charge.
A scoped fee table
| Element | Published figure | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Basic free quota | RMB 20,000 | Shared by verified accounts under one identity; specified withdrawals/transfers |
| Excess rate | 0.1% | Amount exceeding the applicable remaining allowance |
| Minimum service charge | RMB 0.1 per transaction | When the published charge applies |
For illustration, if no free quota remains and RMB 1,000 is fully chargeable under this rule, 0.1% produces RMB 1. This is arithmetic illustrating the published rule, not a quote for your account. Separate promotions, product routes and exemptions must be checked individually.
Keep bank-card payment separate
Alipay’s express-payment agreement describes use of the cardholder’s own card and associated authentication information. Its public text helps explain the relationship between card authorisation and payment instructions; the agreement presented in your current account must still be read. A linked-card purchase does not automatically become a balance withdrawal. Conversely, moving a balance into another product should not be assumed to erase all applicable charges. Choose the route that matches the actual transaction and understand it before confirming.
Read limits without borrowing someone else’s account
An account’s permitted amount can depend on verification, the funding bank, operation type and risk controls. A screenshot from another user is therefore poor evidence of your own limit. Read the error message and the provider’s applicable help entry. Do not split transactions or borrow another person’s account to circumvent a restriction. If an identity document or phone number has changed, use the account’s official update process. A successful login does not prove that every payment function is enabled or that the linked card remains valid.
Maintain useful payment and refund evidence
Keep the order identifier, payment transaction number, date, amount, recipient and funding source. For refunds, retain the original payment and the refund reference together. If the app and bank statement show different stages, ask which processing step has completed. Avoid paying a supposed support agent to release a refund. A legitimate support conversation should begin through the application or service centre, not a stranger’s message after a complaint. Redact passwords, verification codes and complete card numbers before sharing any public screenshot.
Before-confirmation checklist
- Name the operation: purchase, transfer or withdrawal.
- Confirm personal-account eligibility and remaining allowance.
- Inspect the source, recipient, amount and service charge.
- Read any separate credit or investment agreement.
- Save the transaction record and official support route.
For repeated household transfers, record the displayed charge each time instead of assuming a previous fee will repeat. Changes in remaining allowance alone can alter the result. A small test can confirm the intended recipient, but it does not establish the tariff for a later larger transaction.
Resolve the question precisely
When contacting support, state the operation, account type and transaction reference, then ask which rule produced the charge. The service centre lists separate support routes, so use the relevant category. If the question concerns the issuer’s own charge, obtain the bank’s explanation as well. This guide is independent of Alipay and does not promise a waiver or reimbursement. Its purpose is to make the calculation and product boundary visible, allowing a user to recognise an unexpected charge before accepting it.
